Fatigue
Fatigue is a state of physical or mental exhaustion that results from prolonged exertion, illness, stress, or lack of restorative sleep. It can manifest as a feeling of weariness, weakness, or a diminished capacity to perform daily activities. Physically, fatigue may involve muscle weakness, reduced coordination, and a general sense of heaviness. Mentally, it can impair cognitive functions such as concentration, memory, and decision-making. Chronic fatigue, lasting for weeks or months, can significantly impact quality of life and may indicate underlying health issues such as autoimmune disorders, chronic infections, or hormonal imbalances.
The causes of fatigue can vary widely and may include lifestyle factors such as inadequate nutrition, sedentary habits, or excessive physical activity. Emotional stress, grief, and anxiety can also contribute to fatigue by draining mental energy. Furthermore, medical conditions like anemia, thyroid disorders, or chronic pain syndromes can lead to persistent fatigue. Addressing fatigue often involves identifying and addressing the underlying causes through lifestyle changes, stress management techniques, improving sleep hygiene, and sometimes medical treatment depending on the severity and persistence of symptoms.
